OUYA Emulators - Experience

19th November 2013

Maybe the old XBOX can be retired for good now :)

Can't do file I/O in monkey.

19th November 2013

You must admit Jay, you have had problems with level data that comes from the limitations and differing machines/platforms too.
Is READ, DATA and RESTORE too old fashion and BASIC now? :)
I guess I'm going to have a big 100 entry long select/case for lev*snip*

Can't do file I/O in monkey.

It's annoying that Monkey doesn't (as far as I can tell) have DATA and READ commands(??) :(

Making Monkey Do

It's a lot easier now to get stuff signed and zipaligned at least :)

What is it you're working on? - October 2013

29th October 2013

This month I ported a game to OUYA (and then cut the price to 99c from $1.99, until Halloween anyway)
www.ouya.tv
I'm supposed to be doing an October game featuring Candy for OneGameAMonth but I haven't even started yet so the JJ port might have to make*snip*

OuyaSpam

Is probably a good place to pimp your wares as it seems a generally more decent place than the official forums as it's already been said :)

Can the Monkey OUYA?

10th October 2013

I'm guessing you managed it as you have a game on there now Spinal. Did you mess with the AIP stuff?
I think the newer version of Monkey has its own OUYA target now.
I've just got an OUYA a couple of days ago and still trying to get stuff set up.

Retro Remakes

The forum is back but it's a clean slate and people have to re-register.

It's all very depressing isn't it - all the hosted sites are down too including mine, and a LOT of others.

Discuss :How to code Properly

16th June 2007

BTW I was serious about the indenting. I don't know how I coped on the Spectrum with line-numbers and no formatting anymore.
If code isn't indented to show the structure then I literally cannot read it. I have trouble reading my own code at the best of ti*snip*

Discuss :How to code Properly

15th June 2007

Jay, that's not how you tell people how to not tell people how to do something. ;)
My philosophy is thus:-
If code works and does what you want then it's right, if it doesn't do what you want it to then it's wrong - anything else is just fluff.

Google Maps omnipresent

15th June 2007

Yeah it's fantastic... I spend a good hour or so just wandering the streets of Vegas and Miami, pretending I was a CSI. :P
I've never been abroad so it's nice to be able have a virtual trip like that from the comfort of my ikkle computer chair.

Satan can't be much worse than some of the world leaders we have at the moment - but I digress.
Shame about the thong woman disappearing - did the lady with the shy pussy get her way in the end?

QOTD : Joysticks/Pads..

6th June 2007

I just got a JoyTech Neo-Se Xbox 360 USB controller from play.com for £5 which I thought was a pretty sweet deal. :)
I include joystick/pad support usually when someone reminds me to do so - it's not really at the top of my list of priorities to *snip*

QOTD : Your current project?

6th June 2007

This is exactly the reason I don't "play with new languages" ... much better to put your energy into learning one and then (shock horror) actually making something with it. :)
I'm between "big" projects right now and still trying to decide what to work on*snip*

QOTD - Your next language?

I jumped ship from B3D a couple of years ago now, so if that still counts as my next language then it was (and is) BlitzMax which is really fun and easy once you get into it and get used to the OOP. It's the change in types and using methods that make it t*snip*
