How's Things? - March 2024

How's everyone doing?
My god, it's a fucking hellscape out there, so I hope you're all coping vaguely well enough.
Me and Mum have been struggling with "flu+covid" which seems to be a mixed blend of death going around at the minute.
We've also been struggling somewhat with all the finances going tits up, as Mum switches to "don't tell the internet I'm old enough for a State Pension" and I'm simultaneously being switched to "god help us all" Universal Credit, so that's been a fun few weeks...
Ugh...

And then there's .. external fears of inevitable doom... he says, skirting very close to the politics rules.

Fucking hell, it's a shambles.

I sure do hope you're all ok.
*hugs to all*

I'm not watching TV so i do not know the global covid situation.

Positive thinking helps and as a rule: It cold be better, always.

BTW: Is the "march 2024" a typo or is this thread a retrospective ?

Sorry to hear you're both still recovering from the coof, *sends hugs back*.

I also don't bother with the telly, haven't for at least 6 years now, which is probably for the best.

Things are going okay over here, aside from all the upcoming bullshit starting on april fools day I seem to be somewhat in demand for extra web work outside of work hours which is handy.

The kids are okay, Layla is having a few struggles with life however so I do my best to give her the chilled out times she needs when she's here with me.

But yeah, things are okay, just ticking along really, a new arcade has opened up nearby and that's quite nice, just hoping my big purchase arrives with me soon!

You know what, I'm listening to Dominik Diamond over the Internet on a Canadian radio station, link if you're interested: player.899thewave.fm/

What stands out...

* the sponsored messages and adverts are all positive.

* the news bulletins are not doom and gloom, or looking for blame. Just reporting what's happening.

I maybe being a bit naive about it but it feels a huge contrast to the news, TV, radio and 'newspapers' we get exposed to here.

Without getting into politics, it is almost like every message on our side are about hating someone and being angry about something.

Not saying it's perfect, but for the last two days I've been listening to Dom in the morning, it's more uplifting than the radio stations I usually listen to here in the mornings.

PS: they have their own "autoglass repair, autoglass replace" jingle, but for a completely differently named company

Otherwise, I feel like I'm fighting off the last of the winter blues, which is affecting my productivity and other things.

That sounds good. I've added it to my playlist, and will have a listen in the mornin'
I'm using the "Triode" app on iOS for streaming online stations and it has that, though I had to hunt for it!!
It's listed as 'CHNS 89.9 "The Wave" Halifax, NS' on there.
