JL235	A middle eastern country is now less stable, CONGRATULATIONS! Seriously tho this is a good thing. But this will probably get worse before it gets better. Similar also happened in Iran, and a year later Islamic fundamentalists managed to get into power and the country has been bad ever since. The real hard work for a brighter Egypt starts now, after Mubarak has stepped down.

Spare	The army was in charge of the country, and still is. Mubarak was just a face for their army, so I'm not sure how great this is. If they pick a new leader he will have to be accepted by the army.

JL235	Labour did dominate politics for the last 13 years, and for most of that the Tories were effectively dead. But they always remained as the main opposition party, so it was innevitable that they have managed to get back into power. Tbh I don't think the Tories are so bad now that they have moved closer to the centre ground. The current government seems to be far better run then the final years of the previous Labour government. Regardless of policy, a well run country is better then a badly run country.

It remains to be seen if the launch of a new, democratic trade union in Egypt will be able to organise a strong enough movement. From the guardian: After scuffles yesterday, when soldiers tried to clear demonstrators out of Tahrir Square, the military has delivered an ultimatum to protesters today to leave the central plaza that formed the heart of the revolution or face arrest. Despite the ousting of Mubarak, tensions continue in Egypt over the military's plan to rule by martial law until elections are held. While the military's move has been welcomed by some, other pro-democracy protesters are alarmed by the failure to agree to a civilian-led interim government.
