Blogging on my PSP

This is slow...

I'm going to keep this short, as this keyboard is slow.

I am writing this blog entry from my new PSP, using TheMadProff's wireless network. I will expand this on the PC later...

|edit| Edit from PC:
The above text took 10 minutes to write using the PSP's onscreen keyboard - it's like a mobile's keypad, only slower. Some of you are going to be thinking: 'it's just a PSP - those cam out some time ago'. Well, I just got mine on Tuesday as an early birthday present (as I won't have much time to use after my birthday due to school), and I find it quite interesting.

So, having managed to obtain a connection to TMP's wireless network, we tested the internet browser. It took a minute or two to logon, and the page was a bit squashed due to small screen size. But the site was browsable!

After that, we tried to get the PS3 Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction trailer onto it. 1 1/2 hours later, the best we'd got was the first 5 seconds before it crashed. But worst of all, the other 2 videos we tried to put on there worked! It's as if it knows I want to have this trailer on my PSP, and won't let me... meh, I can watch it on YouTube.

We also tried various other websites, and discovered that the browser can't display BMPs... |edit|

Can't display BMPs? Blimey!

Mind you, BMPs on a website aren't worth downloading anyway - the filesizes are huge!

Cheers matey

Actually, those BMPs are those little buttons for navigation on my website - it can't display those! Though, I assume this is because, as you say, they're often really big.

Ah, but can it run homebrew?

Nope - well, not without extensive modding, which I don't want to do!

I was researching PSP homebrew, and this is what I believe is the case: a major error in Firmware 1.00 allowed unsigned code to be run on the PSP - so homebrew was possible. All later versions had this fixed, so small glitches in games had to be used. The exact details can be found under 'PSP homebrew' on Wikipedia. My firmware is V3.50 - I think it is possible, but only by using a glitch in the game 'Lumines' to downgrade the firmware, or something. And I need at least firmware 3.11 to play Ratchet and Clank!

(Also, we finally managed to get the ToD trailer onto my PSP. Why we needed to go on Pyro Sand 2 on the computer during that, I don't know, but it was fun. )
