Testing

4th October 2010

Could people pop over to (Linkage), test in different browsers, maybe post screenshots?
I'm not using the domain for anything at present, so I'm just testing stuff in a live environment.

QOTD : Addicted?

4th October 2010

It'd have to be a draw between two games as different as The Sims and World of Warcraft.
World of Warcraft is pretty self explanatory... they don't call it Warcrack for nothing.
As for The Sims... it feels like there was a 5 year period of my life where*snip*

Private ownership

3rd October 2010

Kind of a longwinded, but very accurate and thourough argument against private ownership and some of the hypocrisies of capitalism in general.

Because you could do stuff like:

Un-ugly my ReplaceString C function?

26th September 2010
Terminated at the end, I think.
Yeah, that's pretty much what I said. And obviously that's what's happening, I was just a little confused as to how it was happening.

Afr0

Improvements!

26th September 2010

I'd like to see an email subscription feature, where you can subscribe to a thread and get your email inbox chock full of email messages whenever someone replies to a thread (or a message within a thread).
If anyone else has any suggestions or otherwise, *snip*

Afr0

Un-ugly my ReplaceString C function?

24th September 2010

Initially it looked to me like it would replace the entire string with '\\0', but I suppose it only puts '\\0' at the specific address in memory that you increased in the function...

Afr0

Un-ugly my ReplaceString C function?

24th September 2010
*out_ptr = '\\0'; // null term
Wait... I'm confused. How come dereferencing the pointer in this manner doesn't simply replace the content stored with '\\0'?

Afr0

Un-ugly my ReplaceString C function?

22nd September 2010

Heh... he wanted suggestions of improvement. Apparently I read that as 'Suggestion of improvement either in terms of code or alternatives...!'
Oh well, I suggested an alternative at least!

Afr0

Un-ugly my ReplaceString C function?

22nd September 2010

Unless you really mind mixing C and C++ code, you should be able (?) to use the boost::regex class to do what this function already does, but faster.

The Default mask Color

Yup. CodersRule is correct. Black is a stupid masking color. Who wants to make a game that doesn't use black?

Afr0

Classically trained or a tinkerer?

18th September 2010

I used to be a tinkerer (I still tinker around from time to time), but I got to the point where I basically realized there wasn't much chance of me ever becoming a professional coder.
And since I didn't want to end up in a shop, or doing network security *snip*

Meaning I'd be very surprised if it didn't come in the form of some executable or another.

You realize the CS:Source server isn't written in PHP?

AudioCompressing

4th September 2010

Uhm.... yes? Yes it does!
You just have to convert the values...
WORD = short
DWORD = int
I'm not sure if Blitz distinguishes between signed and unsigned, but it shouldn't really matter so long as you don't use negative values.
As for my C# code... th*snip*

Afr0

AudioCompressing

4th September 2010

I already made an example showing how to do that here.
Technically it doesn't actually compress anything, it only uncompresses. But to compress you only have to reverse the algorithm!
In fact, to get you started:
* Grab a wav file.
* Create a new file.*snip*

Design : a Kinect game

3rd September 2010

Though, I suppose, in a perfect world, you'd have something like 'The Sims Online' where you could build houses, have your friends over for tea and pick up girls out on the town only to quite literally fuck them in the hottub later on!!

Design : a Kinect game

3rd September 2010

I honestly find it hard to think of a more perfect game for Project Natal than 'Milo and Kate'. It's so perfect, in fact, that people have commented that the video Peter Moleyneux showed at E3 was bollocks (I.E it had been faked).
Too bad it seems Lionhea*snip*
