For my vic 20 games, sometimes quite a bit out of necessity to achieve speed or reduction in size or both. Anything from game logic to data and structures. It can be rewarding and frustrating but ultimately I enjoy creating things in an environment that has limits. Thankfully GIT makes this easier as I have good 'save points' to go back to or just for comparison.
