So, today has brought upon the week of fixing up the gameboy version!

So far...

I've added the options screen where you can toggle background music and sfx on or off, as well as invert the screen tones if you're not on a colour game boy.
Fixed some audio issues with the main menu.
Added the kickstarter backers screen with 8 pages of ks backer names

Inverted tones is kinda cool, all the menus are now safe for both colour and regular gameboy also.

Managed to hook a music engine into gbdk just now, had to take yesterday of for the kids though.

Progress is tough now and I'm fairly worried by it all to be honest, there's so much left to be done!

At least there is a path I can use to parse music in from Deflemask again, hopefully it sounds good enough.

The kids are all good, yeah, lots of fun with them, Layla is just playing through portal for the first time which is kinda cool to witness, Triston is doing his own things in minecraft with a lil community he;s a part of, just made some pizza sauce and dough for a little bit later on, I'n yet to import the music sentt over to be honest, I was testing with another tune, just to see how large it would be and I think things should be okay, there's just, well, a lot to do.

Tomorrow should be a good day to tackle it again though

Got the movement code for all the enemies in place now, which is a relief, going to migrate code from one bank to another in order to free up space in the main bank which is 100% full now, hopefully it'll still work afterwards!

Most of the sfx have been added this morning now, with the exception of them item get ones gbdk seems to still be eating inputs though which is worrying.

Well, the main input (tapping a to flap) of all things ( I blame the ancient version of GBDK I'm using) seems to be fixed up, i've had to resort to rather obscure methods to check it...well, and double check it.

Lots more really odd bug fixes throughout the afternoon unfortunately, but, when they're fixed up, that'll be good for the next part of the game.

Yeah, I was pretty pissed off about their description of it, felt like they stuck someone up there who knew nothing about the game, kickstarter or origins and then they showed the ruddy ending in the background of all things!

I was, needless to say, instantly in contact with them about this. Also, apparently we're now local to Pittsburgh?!

Le sigh. :/

Looks like it boosted up the kickstarter by precisely 0 backers to boot...

It wouldn't even have taken much research, I've sent them over a lot of info about it.

I'm going to assume the incorrect nod to flappy bird is probably more based around, I guess, their audience being a lot older than us? I dunno though.

The kickstarter has never mentioned a SNES port, I have never even considered doing a SNES port either.

I'm a bit taken aback esp after this week, but, in the same hand, there wouldn't be as likely to be a successful kickstarter without them, also, all the manufacturing of carts, etc would be left to this guy and, whilst making the carts would be do-able, boxes are more of a pain than anything else!
