Socoder -> AI Threads -> Giving Up the Code

Time to re-educate if you are in programming? 40 % of code already made with ai. No more programming needed in 5 years. Linkage

Yeah, my lifes career is dead in the water, no more graphic designing, no more programming and I can just about make it to friday. What at that point is the point in it all? The majority use the monopoly, starting up a business is just going to result in shit from said monopoly and I imagine everything else will be A.I. controlled. Robotron 2084 might be 50 years too late at this point.

Sometimes I really fucking hate this planet, other times I remember that what I make helps other people out which is a good thing, losing that and the willingness to care for others would errr . I dunno, essentially fuck Amazon and their practices, I get it, I'm probably a luddite at this point but I'm too old to transfer to manual labour to compete with those half my age.

Also, I hope that article is wrong

Honestly, I'm not even sure there's that many Manual Labour jobs left, nowadays.
But, man, I really do miss working in a dead-end off-license job all day.
The Star Trek moneyless society really does need to come quicker than ever.

Yeah, but then you're becoming a public figure, and .. given the past couple of months, I not entirely sure that's the best path right now!

Oh god no. I think the only way I could get around it would be to not show my face TBH

I wonder if working from home wil be a thing in 5 years? If anything on a computer can be done with ai?

The programming ai has not brought any new games on the app store that I would play. So I guess for me the market there has not improved with those new tools.

The AI might not have created new games YET, but the improvements since this same time last year are absolutely mind-blowing.
It's definitely happening, and now that the genie's out of the bottle, there's really no stopping it.
Humanity has to adapt somehow.

...But we kinda already did this a few years ago during lockdown.
I think that might've actually helped in a lot of ways.
We learned new skills, new ways to work, new methodologies.. All practically overnight.

The difference now, though, is that this one's going to be jobs going bit by bit, not all at once, and I'm not sure the higher-ups will be as willing to step in, when "there are other jobs you could be doing.."
It's only once those have vanished, too, that we'll suddenly realise how much has changed.

We're definitely at a crossroads, here, though.
The future's coming quickly.

Kinda reminds you of the miners strike era, and how all those people must've felt, having jobs torn away from them without any say in the matter. Thousands of families suddenly without incomes, and everything having to change.
This is just that in a new skin.
Everything repeats.

Fuxake.

Yup, this feels faster though, only when those in higher positions are also replaced will they suddenly think "oh no m this is wrong!" but that's the way with everything.

Yeah, as long as the higher ups are still making money money money, they won't give a rats ass about the rest of us*.

* I, of course, use "us" to mean everyone other than me, because I'm in a "paid for by the government" situation already. Would be nice if that was the norm...

The will still not be as simple as 10 MakeGame : 20 Run
We will still need to tell AI what we want it to do, it's simply programming, Jim, but not as we know it!

I guess I'd best find the monies tolearn to drive a car or something to get a delivery driver thing of something as a backup?

We already have driverless taxis in California, from what I understand. Driverless semis/tractor trailers whatever they are called elsewhere are heavily being discussed.

Not going to be long before humans are replaced for delivery jobs.

Hell, literally just read VW is testing driverless delivery vans in Austin, Texas.

Short of posting on SoCoder, we are being replaced for everything else.

Meanwhile, Ole' Kuron is happily driving his 40 year old Toyota pickup, which is damn near theft-proof as nobody can drive a manual transmission anymore. Most advanced tech it has is I put a new $25 car radio in it that can play MP3s and has Bluetooth, and put in some new speakers. MP3s and I am good for the rest of my life. All the tech I need in a vehicle.

I've only ever had one automatic, never again!, manual gearbox is best.

we were worried for nothing, they have promised not to steal our jobs or rebel against us:

Meanwhile, since 2020 we have been living through every 60s and 70s dystopian SciFi movie. Now getting close to moving into the 80s and the Robopocalypse movies. And to think we were all preparing for the Zombie apocalypse.
