Nice idea, the floppy controller being the important piece of the puzzle. To be honest, if they just tried selling the controller on it's own, a lot of Amiga enthusiasts would probably give a crap. Bundling it into a full "Armiga" seems like something a little overly ambitious, to me.

But, yeah, looks great. Would be something I'd buy if I didn't have my A600 up and running, already.

So a Banana Pi running an android amiga emulator with a custom floppy controller.

Seems to me that can be done a lot cheaper...

It's an emulator. Nothing new there then. As Jay said, making the floppy controller available (on it's own, as a stand-alone USB product) would probably generate more interest and sales.

But really, nowadays, does anyone really care that much about the Amiga? I loved my A600 BITD but I've moved on to bigger (and smaller) and better things.

But would you give up your pc to go back to the Amiga? Temporarily, maybe. Permanently not a chance!

SO it's an Amiga emulator that you can't actually use your old Amiga compatible joysticks/pads with then? USB only. OooooooooKaaaaaaaaaayyyy.

I still don't get it. Why would anyone want this - it's not an Amiga, it's still just an emulator. Like you have on your phone, pc or open source/jailbroken handheld/console/tablet.

:/

IMO, an SD-Card-Ready floppy drive that supports Amiga (and therefore assumingly ST format?) discs would be a useful device to have for anyone struggling to access that kind of data.
For me, it's next to useless since I have an actual A600 here with a CompactFlash drive attached. But if there was a CPC6128 compatible version, it'd sure as hell beat trying to get my old CPC up and running, just to get to my old disk data!!!

Yeah, I can see the point in accessing your old data that you created, but once you've done that the thing would be useless. I don't see this being aimed at the old hobbyist coders though.

The Amiga Mini has been announced, and the internet's going wild over the idea of a mini Amiga with HDMI output that you can hook up to your Telly, like it's an amazing new thing.

I was excited to see the Amiga Mini... but then found out the keyboard doesnt work... so I'll wait for the next version

They said they would only do the keyboard version if the one without sells enough.

It would be interesting to program things on it with amos or blitz. But after trying to do stuff with blitz basic on an emu and constantly crashing it I kind of lost interest.

Having an Amiga A500 without a keyboard is no different to having an emulator, I have WinUAE for that. A full size A500 with a keyboard though, now that's cookin' with gas!

The A500 is way too big though, for me anyway. I have my 500 from the 90's with hard disk, KCS power board, external floppies etc... but it's in the box on top of the bookcase because it needs it's own room to set it out lol. It's a shame this is not a A1200 case with a working keyboard, which is atleast desk sized and leave space for the TV.

The A500 mini is pretty pricey, but TheC64/TheVic20 are easy to use, just switch on and go so if they can do that for the Amiga, with the mouse too it sounds alright. I'm sure the price will come down next year, Will [you] buy one, is the question?

I have seen a preorder option for 129 Euro's. I had that c64 in a joystick and used it maybe once or twice and never looked at again.

If every amiga game and tool and pd disk ever was included then it would be easy.

My A600 still works fine. I have no purpose for such a device.

I think the ultimate would be the A1200 Maxi if that ever becomes a thing.

This one can do AGA games, apparently. Not sure how the emu knows which kickstart to use. I presume there's settings in a config file, or something?

I imagine it's a 500 for licensing reasons. Cloanto seem happy to licence the kickstart 1.3 ROMs, like with retro gamer mag that time.
