Apple Event at 6pm. No idea what to expect, but this'll be my first time I'll be paying attention to the MacOS stuff!

Hmmmm...

So, the other day I had to order Mum a new phone, and I legitimately found myself eyeing up the iPhone Pro for myself.
Knowing this announcement was going to be in the alarmingly near future, I opted not to.. just yet...

Today I found myself looking at the new iPad Pro with its pro camera, and the new M1 chip, and thinking,,. Should I?
But .. no, realistically, if I want a handy camera, it'd be better in a smaller phone sized package.
So, I ordered myself the iPhone Pro 12 I was eyeing up the other day.

I'll be paying over the same 5 month term that I recently bought the MacBook over, which helps ease the cost..
Mum looked at me, worried that I might be getting addicted to credit-based paying.
It's ok, Mum.. I have no intention to buy anything more, for at least the rest of the year!!
..
.
.. unless GPD unveil a fanless portable windows gaming thing, of course,

Oh, and the PS5 can naff off. I think I've given up on that. The fact that Amazon never have any in stock, coupled with the fact that I think I'm pretty much done with No Man's Sky now. There's no point.

I kind of gave up on the iphone. I was happy with the se2020 and really intended to look at getting a pro. But having experienced the bad battery life and how hot the iphone can get I think it is not worth it.

Now that I'm back on Korg Gadget I also think it pretty much sucks that the im1 instruments can not be used. It has a way of activating the non inapp instruments but it just refuses to do that.

I was looking at maybe getting a new low mid range android phone for FL studio when I'm out in nature. One with great battery life.

The Apple Event was kind of a let down. They are going to put the M1 chip in everything now The Ipad pro seems nice(expensive!) and if I get really bogged down with slow downs when making music I might as well get one of those. The laptop availability situation seems to going to last until next year and the one I bought last year seems to do anything I throw at it.

My phone rarely gets used as a phone, unless I'm stuck in hospital again!
It sits on the coffee table, most of the time, and only ever gets used as a camera.

I WAS considering actually getting a camera, but I've found previous cameras to be stupidly pissing slow when it comes to you grabbing it from a stand-by position, turning it on, waiting for it to wake up, then taking the shot.
.. The bird in the garden has usually flown off about 3 minutes before the photo's been taken!

Would I Android?
No.
Based on my own experience with Android, so far. A variety of devices from the shitty HTC Wildfire, the lovely GPD XD, through to whatever the heck version of the "Samsung Galaxy Tablet 10 A" I actually have, because Samsung name things in such completely random ways, you can never be sure.
All of the devices are lovely in their own right, but each one has little annoying flaws that make me want to scream every time I use them.
Frustrating decisions by the manufacturer. Quirky stuttering for no apparent reason.
Of course, so far, I've never had an Android device that just plain forgets that it has a touchscreen.. .. Looking at you, Nokia Lumia 1020

Remember, folks. If your backup is saved from a device running an iOS Beta version, you'll need to fuck about with the new phone, to get it up and running, then installing the beta profile, before you can restore your backup onto the device, because "This backup is from a newer version of iOS"

*sigh*
All the faffing about..

As well as deleting the backups, don't forget to clear out the update downloads after your desktop has updated your iPhing. Damn thing leaves them all on your hard drive, as if you've got infinite space to play with!

Awww, yeah!!
From Wrappz.com, took a couple of days to get here. Cost £21.90 for the Tough-Gloss case.
I was originally going to get their leather case, but you can only print on the front of it, leaving the back completely black.. meh..

Rumor is that the new macs and ipads wil be sold/delivered from 21th of may.

I might get that 11inch ipad pro then. Depending if I keep using the old one a lot until then.

Word is there wil be(is) a shortage of m1 chips. This may last for months or even through next year. So it might not be possible to get a ipad m1 for a while.

It's not just M1 chips that are delayed/affected - Covid has fucked up production of pretty much every chip. Except oven chips, natch!

Yeah. Philips here already mentioned they might not be able to make enough medical machines and asked chipmakers to prioritize.

Those new nvidia and amd laptops I have not seen in stock either.

Apple is profiting on all this though, doubling their profits last quarter I think I read.

I think that's the M1 hype in general that's done the profiting. Hell, even I bought one, and I've been the biggest Windows fanboy since I finally decided that Amiga was dead and buried.

I think it's just good timing for Apple.. having successfully created a chip that doesn't rely on external gfx chips, memory chips, storage chips and more.
Having everything inside a single chip means they only have to deal with one thing, and (I would assume!) getting a bazillion of that one chip is infinitely easier than trying to clamber for the myriad of chipsets that even a basic PC would require.

I think..
.. Right?!
