I remember trying it out, once, a long while ago. My main issue is that I can't draw in 2D, so my 3D modelling is about 7,000* worse!

I gave up fairly quickly!

Tried it a few times, even went back to try it some more and disliked it on all counts.

Same reason as the majority of people who don't like it I guess; interface is too confusing and documentation isn't as simple to follow.

I think it's the case of wanting my 3d modeller to be user-friendly and does what I want it to do quickly and without all the hassle.

IMO, Blender sort of comes off as the linux of 3d modellers in that it wasn't designed with newbies in mind.
Don't get me wrong, Blender is an amazing piece of kit and I'm actually a bit jealous of those who actually "get" it but I'd definitely wouldn't touch it again unless the Blender.org guys "give in" and make it easier to use - which like linux, I seriously doubt.

Last semester, I did a fair bit of 3D work exploring Maya, 3dsmax, Silo3d and on my own milkshape, lightwave, wings3d, blender and others(does sketchup count?).
I'd share my top spot between 3dsmax and Maya.

Thanks guys for your input (i will give imput after this last question is asked). I had a few questions, but you answered them before I asked.
Before, I ask another question, they way I see it was this. I downloaded Blender, and noticed the difficulty using it. I pretty much fought the hardness, and it started to become a little easier (hotkeys) but I didnt care to much for its tutorials. In fact, its tutorials are a little off. The one that was most important, was the one that had me stumped. The animation part. What good was it, if I cant figure it out.
But I still like the power of Blender. So I started simple again. Building the vase tutorial. I passed that tutorial, but ran into my last problem. Blender wouldnt export 3ds format. I mean, what the world! Thats very important. Here are the formats, that Blender exports......

.3ds
.ac
.fbx
.dae
.cfg .xaf .xsf .xmf .xrf
.off
(Direct X) .x
.lwo
.mot
.md2
.flt
.iv
.map
.raw
.xsi
.ply
.wrl
.obj
.x3d
.fig
And thats the list, that Blender exports modelling and anims in. I have to say, it was quite a list for extentions. But my prob, was knowing WHICH extentions, Blitz3D uses. Does anybody know which extentions from above will work in Blitz3D? I would hate to have to start a whole project of figuring out which ones are of any use. I was pretty ticked off to find, 3ds not exporting correctly (which Blender is getting a tech email)

I quite like it, there are some fairly easy to follow tutorials around now that take you through the basics. It took me a couple of hours to get used to the interface, but when I did it kind of made sense.

There is also now a b3d export thingy - have a look at the brl forums - don't know too much about that though I haven't used it.

Oh yeah also I'm reasonably sure B3D can use .x, .3ds, .md2

OH MIKE THANKS...sombody give him a badge? Please? LOL. You saved me some agravating hours figuring it out. I was REALLY hoping, .x was going to work. I am also using wings 3D now, because of a fellow socoder. Thanks to that socoder.(and yes wings works in Blitz3D)

HAPPY FORTH OF JULY TO ALL!!
