Ever found yourself stirred awake at 6am, only to notice a creepy ghostly figure watching you? ... Can’t help but say I’m a little freaked out by that! ... won’t be getting back to sleep any time soon!!

No seriously, why are you making such drama about it ?

See it as it is: You have noticed it now, but it was there for years.

People mostly do not notice things which are around them because their belief tells them that there is nothing.
And when somehow the belief is lowered/Shaken and they start to see things, they freak out. That is normal but they forgot the basic truth, whatever is there now, it was there before.

It can't do anything, anyway. But you can have a conversation with it, if you want.

Anyway, when you start having lucid dreams ( the dreams in which you can consciously move through) and the following Astral/Obe experiences, you will drop the fear from these ''Ghostly'' figures automatically.

p.s.: I'm wondered that you have explained the figure as ghostly, usually people talk about seeing the shadowy black figure/s.

I very rarely have spooky events happen to me, so whenever I do they tend to keep my over-imaginative mind busy.
I'm fairly sure it was nothing, but it certainly woke me up, early, on a Sunday, and barely anything can achieve that!!!

Happened to me once, Turns out I fell asleep with my eyes open. The spooky figure, which I interpreted as being a goblin, was really my dressing gown hanging on my exercise bike.

I don't believe in ghost or any supernatural explanation of what we currently do not understand. A shadow is a shadow, a sleepy (or completely asleep) mind will interpret what it sees with more imagination than a wakeful mind. Also remember, what you see is only a small amount of what is there, the rest is made up of memory and guess work. The brain simply can not process all of the light that your eyes take in fast enough, so most of your peripheral vision is very low detail and a composite of known images.

However, anyone else who believes this sort of thing to be a ghost, then I can't really argue with that and nor do I want to. Even at a scientific level, given how single photons have been shown to react with things that are not there, it could simple be some evidence of multiverse theory and light is being absorbed by an object that is in a slightly different dimension.

Or you're nuts.

When I was a kid I was afraid of a weird sound in my room. I knew I was hearing it. It was completely dark and I was to afraid to move. This went on for some time. It turned out it was the hamster biting the bars of his cage!

I still sleep with a light on in my room. I think I watched to many horror movies when I was young.

I've seen and heard a lot of creepy, weird non-explainable shit over the years. Working nightshifts in a mental health unit does that to you. I even have witnesses to some of it...

On occasion, I get sleep paralysis, when it first happened, I was like "WTF", I will be awake, but unable to move/talk, I see horrible things like spiders, squiggly things around the crack of the bedroom door... Its horrible, the last one I had I woke up, and there was a spider in front of me, and it was clicking its legs at me, when I came around it disappeared and the clicking noise was the sound of the blinds, there was a breeze coming through the window moving them.

On the other side, on rare occasions, I lucid dream... Basically I realise I'm asleep when I'm still "in there", and its great mind, I can control whats happening and its magic mind! I love it when it happens but sadly, it never lasts very long as my alarm clock always kicks in and before I know it I'm waking up! I've been up to all sorts in my dreams, flying (Like the man of super), in a war, in space... And it feels really real mind!

The mind, its a funny little thing!

I wonder id sleep paralysis is what that goblin was... I couldn't move, all I could do was scream! ...I say scream, in my world I was screaming the place down, it WAS a goblin after all, but according to Helen, I just gave out a little whimper.

There was that nightmare I had a year or so ago, there was a monster of some kind in the spare room and the only way to defeat it was the throw old books at it, for some reason new books didn't work, only old ones. That was odd.

Probably is, people have different experiences of it when it happens, and you can get it falling asleep and when waking up.

When I checked it out, its not a cause of concern in general, obviously scares the cack out of you when it happens, but it's just one of them things, something is interrupting your going to sleep/waking up process, you may be just really tired, a little bit stressed, basically, just normal life things can trigger it.

If it happened every time I shut my eyes, I'd be at the docs, lol, but like I said, its on the odd occasion... So when it happens, I just ride it out, not the best experience, lol, but, I know whats going on, so its not as bad.

Sleep paralysis !

Such-a-wonderful opportunity to do some things.

But, from the responses here, i guess, you would like to know how to get out of it, instead of using it.

Well, you can blink with your eyes, slowly expanding them as much as you can, then contracting.
You can breathe, first slowly and deeply, and then speeding up. (so that your belly is moving).

Ultimately as the other muscles are reached by these methods, the paralysis will break.

Or you could ignore the circumstance and just fall back to sleep, because with the above methods it will take you another 10~15 minutes to relax .
(and you can fall asleep easily because the 'paralysis state' does not need to be builded up)

The rest of you who is interested in the other things:
