Never owned an N64. One of those "But I'd only ever play Goldeneye or Mario64 on it.." systems, so I never bothered.

I never had a N64 either, so, unable to help... Ebay will probably be the shout!

Thing is though, even though I have a PS1 under the desk there, all connected and that, I tend to run my games using the ePSXe emulator.... Just recently bought Hogs of War!!! \o/ Classic

Anyway, good look in getting one, they are a nice bit of kit!

Found a cheapo one here (at time of pasting)

What a horribly messy URL!

Web / Game Dev, occasionally finishes off coding games also!

My issue with random ebay listings (apart from "WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT URL SUPPOSED TO BE? HOLY FUCKING SHIT!") is that you never can be sure of the condition of the device.

As much as I hate the "It's probably been stolen" concept of CeX, Cash Generators and the like, if you have one nearby it's a good place to start. .. At least you can get them to show you it working!

Maybe have an Ebay linky thing, like with the youtube button?

Anyway, I like Ebay... I'm always on the browse for pointless shit... Tried that Shpock thingy... And, erm, aye, less said, the better with that one!

I had an N64, and I only played Goldeneye on it.

Also came with Mario Kart 64, but that was crap and I hate Mario anyway. I ain't no baby!

I loved the original, had heaps of fun with it... But, yet again, they flog the thing to death and I got sick of the sight of it... Which, Nintendo tend to do that to me!

I used to have two N64s, but gave one away not too long ago

The N64 is a lovely machine with some awesome games not available anywhere else.

Look out for the expansion too - some games, like DK64 require it, while some others, are improved with it - Star Wars - Shadows Of The Empire IIRC etc.

Lots of people just never 'got' the controller, but I think it was very good for the time.

I loved it. Yeah, it's not a DualShock or XBox 360 pad, but for the time it was indeed the best around.

Why the hell are these consoles selling for such stupid prices? They were going for about £10-£15 a decade ago!.

It's because they are considered to be vintage once they get past a certain age.

|edit| If I had realised this back then, I would have bought an Amiga A1200 yonks ago |edit|

It's a sellers market at the moment and they are taking dvantage of it due to renewed interest in retro games and machines.

People are either trying to reclaim their youth, now that they have more time and money as they've grown up and got jobs (or buying machines they could only dream about back in the day) or youngsters are wanting to learn more about the history of gaming. Dunno, but they're all paying way over the odds for old tat.

Anything over about 20 years old is pigeonholed as "vintage", and that means the price goes up.

Last year I paid just over a ton for a Atari 2600 from somewhere between 1978-80 - light sixer 2nd revision. First edition heavy sixers are going for anything up to £500 now.

|edit| Make that £600 Linky

I inherited, from the old man, a mint condition "boxed" Nintendo NES (model NESE-001 GBR). My mate reckons he's seen them go for £250 but I have yet to see that for myself, plus I don't think I could flog it anyway.

Was thinking about getting an Everdrive and try homebrewing on it.
