I remember some years ago that three persons wanted to see the source code of one of your programs.

For the record, I didn't mean the content of my code. I meant its chaotic nature!

My Tetris game was chaos, nothing in there was planned. The code was just one big kludge. LOL

I'm in the "If it works... f*** it!!!" camp too!

I once put some code up at the bb.com forums, it was for a bit of simple path finding, if I remember, I got about 3-4 comments on how unoptimized it was, one posted "ewwwwwww"...

And do you know what, after prompting these god-like coders on how they would do it (I'm always up to learning a better way)... Not one of the buggers posted!

I code to get something to work. If it works, jobs a good-un. I believe in readability on my code, not beautification.

I don't comment my code as much nowadays, but I do ensure all functions and variables are suitably named, based on what they do or what they are for. Because I use a fairly standard coding approach on each of my apps I can go back to old code and understand exactly what it does.

I've seen professional code and honestly, it looks like shit - but really, it's not meant to be seen, so who cares.

What kind of code was this? Who worked on it? How many worked on it?
If it looked like shit, they didn't do their job. Obviously, everyne does 4AM code, but professional code is usually worked on by more than one person, and so needs to be understood by more than one person.

For an excellent example of professional code that was worked on by at least two people, check out this.

Example:

Please keep in mind that I take no responsibility for the copyright of the above code. If the company in question cared, they'd ask the person responsible for the "leak" to remove it.
