Me and a friend spet the best part of the day changing the timing belt on my car, something that I’ve done loads of times when I was a bit younger. We finished it early evening and then took it for a run, half a mile down the road there was loads of smoke pouring out and it lost power, we managed to limp it home. I popped the bonnet and to my dismay the cover that goes over the timing belt was all soft and floppy, it stunk like burning plastic and was unbreathable. I won’t know the extent of the damage until tomorrow.

After spending £110 on the timing belt kit, spending time on it and then having the car pull away from home perfectly fine initially, as you can probably imagine, I am really, really pissed off.

Sounds bad! Hope it's not too expensive to get sorted.

We're gonna take off the timing cover tomorrow and if I find out it has something to do with the new belt kit it'self, they can bloomin' well send out a mechanic with another new kit and replace it. I have a feeling a tensioner guide that came witht the kit could be faulty, hence the friction build up that caused it to smoke up.

I still don't get how it suddenly lost power like that either, the only thing I can think of is the belt could have slipped a tooth out of something, if it has then it could cause the valves and pistons to foul, in Laymen's terms, that means a fucked engine.

Yep, hope it isnt gonna be a wallet emptier, bloody cars... Nowt but an expensive chew!

When it comes to cars and what not, I can check/fill the liquids, and change a spare tyre... Anything else, and it's packed off to the garage man and abandoned till its fixed... Thats as far as my mechanical expertize goes!

To get my handbrake fixed the other day, it cost me the grand total of ‚£81.57, he explained what he did, though, he could've been talking in chinese for what I understood, but, giving the choice of just over 80 quid to me having a go myself and ballsing it right up... Here's my money Mr Garage Man (Well, he's called Billy)!

If it is anything more than a friction related problem, I will probably fuck it off and get another car.

Hoping today will be better than yesterday, off for my appointment with the mental health nurse soon and then back home to find out what the fuck went wrong with my car yesterday.

What really cheeses me off is the fact that I have changed craploads of timing belts over the years and this one shouldn't have turned-out any different.

So, is it sorted yet? What was the problem?

One of the new parts had a fault, but as always, they tried telling me that I fitted it wrong, they did give me a replacement kit eventually though after I kicked off in the shop.

One of the shopkeepers tried telling me that I should have ommited the engine mount coz it's a revised kit, so how the fuck is the engine supposed to stay in the car then?, the fucking dozy cunts!. LOL

Got the car back on the road this afternoon, the world doesn't seem so big again.
