Yesterday I managed to actually boot up Blitz3D, I typed ’’graphics3d 1024,768’’ then went for a brew and forgot about it

I keep doing the same thing everytime I go near my Mutant Monty project.

And I procrastinate every time I do anything else... *I will get back around to testing BambooBasic Dabz, promise!. *

I had Mutant Monty on the CPC. I can't remember a great deal about it, other than preferring Manic Miner/Jet Set Willy and Monty On The Run, but I also recall it being better than Technician Ted.

One platform game I absolutely hated on the CPC (which Speccy owners seemed to love) was Ghouls. That was a real shit game. However the worst game on CPC IMHO was Knight Rider. Actually, that's GOT to be the worst game on ANY system. Ever. Including the Cascade Cassette 50 shite.

rockford I had Mutant Monty on the CPC.

That's the version I'm cloning; I'm attempting to make it play as true to the CPC version as possible. When I'm done with that, I will then attempt a shiny updated remake version.

|edit| The sprites in the CPC version have only 3 speeds: fast, slow and stand-still, Monty himself only has 2 speeds and only stands still when there's an obstacle; with his legs still going. All speeds can be done via timers.

Direction change seems to be a doddle, the good old Mod function will come in handy there. |edit|

|edit| I have experimented with Mod many times, it seems to be the easiest way to do it without using a slow arse For/Next loop to check against imaginery columns and rows. |edit|

Using MOD against the array data is an effective method of scenery collision detection (as long as the screen data is square blocks and not slopes or odd shapes).

However even FOR/NEXT loops aren't slow on machines nowadays.

Go for it

I started to draw some tiles then thought "I'll get a brew first" when I went downstairs I just sat on the sofa with my Nexus 7 and played Real Racing 3 for a bit.

Efforts must be doubled

Dont worry about it Stevey mate, the code is having a rejig at the minute, on the basis of throwing out javascript too (Which will allow HTML5 and WebGL)

Instead of playing a game, I just end up browsing when I do that... lol, the most productive time I have is when I unplug the router!

Mike, let me know when you have rejigged the code, then I will have a go at trying stuff out for you. I still have the same rickety old machine for testing it on.
