They switch systems about 1/2 way through the video. You REALLY should see the second part.

also this

Texture pop-in? Not sure what they're talking about, it isn't visible on the video.
Also, this is clearly the best looking game released this year, and the best looking game currently out there.
Carmack's done it again!

What!?!

It's VERY visible in the video. Stuff it on fullscreen, and keep your eyes on the textures.

ps, that's from the "Nowhere near as glitchy" first system!

Definately noticed it on the AMD video. 'tis probably AMD's driver at fault. By the way, I didn't know that AMD made graphicschips? Could it be that they're talking about ATI?

Edit: Apparently, AMD Radeon HD 6970 is a card. Which GPU does it use, though?

AMD = ATI
AMD bought ATI several years back.

Also, if by "Carmack's done it again!" you mean "Carmack and co. spent seven years tweaking a texture system which works awesomely on flat surfaces and fails hard on complex geometry", then I agree.

No, it's not just on ATI cards. Happens on both ATI and Nvidia, and it's really damn noticeable (and disorienting). The game is evidently optimized for consoles and PCs got the shitty end of the stick here.

Dang, I didn't know that.

Carmack designed and wrote an engine practically by himself - again. It looks better than the current-generation Unreal Engine.
I think you should give him some credit.

NVidia drivers are meant to be much more stable then AMD drivers. So I'm not too surprised theirs work better.

But it still looks dreadful in that video, and it's pretty disappointing. Like most Id games, it looks like a high-end, generic game, which is pretty disappointing.

@Afr0 Carmack did not write the whole engine, and he's even said that the code he does write, often ends up being re-written by others. He has a whole team that he works with, and it's the whole team that produces their engines and games, not one man.

He said it during the last QuakeCon, although his real point would have been that it's the whole team that builds the engines/games, not him!
