What is the point of picking up your dogs poop in a tiny little plastic bag if you then go and throw it into a hedge!

Lazy fucker.. .. But at least they had the decency to not leave it on the pavement. Can't stand that.

As someone who walks a dog (occasionally), that is terrible. I actually think it's better to leave it on the pavement, as at least then the council will clean it up (not that you should do that either).

What I don't get, and I will put it in a way that anyone could understand!.

I live near horse fields. There's always big piles of horse jank on the pavements, never mind how much is on the roads. That stuff can pass on worms, just like dog jank can, as well as stink and attract flies.

I would imagine it would be a lot easier to toilet train a dog that it is to toilet train small children. People have no problem training cats...

In my neighborhood we have a decently large pathway system that connects practically everyone's house, as well as the community's pools, libraries, and CVS.
Eek, I actually made it sound like this was a decent place to live... moving on.
Recently (a couple of years ago) we got trash cans installed that are placed about every block or two, and it's reduced the amount of dog shit I see on the ground everywhere by a lot. Quite useful.

The way I see it. If you own a dog or a horse, you should clear up its crap. If you don't like clearing up crap, don't own that kind of animal in the first place, simples!.

If you live in a place rich enough to have horses, then the council could afford to hire someone to pick up after them right?

and btw you don't train cats to go in the box, they decide that it's the best place.

One thing you don't get now, which I remember from my childhood, is white dog mess. You used to see it all over the place in the time UK, but I don't think I've spotted any for years!

I meant a real toilet, apparently within a few weeks you can teach a cat (or dog) to use a 'people' toilet. Could save a fortune on litter.

I remember white dog turds too. It could be due to dog food being different back then, or something different with the water supply.

Put some Lime-Powder on one of those turds, you'll see it turn white then. It takes a few days to happen though!.

Although a lot of the houses are private, it's not a rich area. You don't need to be rich to own a horse, I actually know people who own horses that are not exactly "well-off".

Problem is, the council won't deal with it too often because it is thought of as Brown-Gold AKA Manure, but the stuff stinks and can carry worms.

There is a school nearby, and I often see kids walking home, trying to dodge the jods. I can just imagine when one of them accidently stamps on one and treads it though the house when they get home. I bet they get extra attention from the family dog, when it smells shit on their shoes!.

As a dog owner myself (well dogs), it really irks me to see other owners leave their dog's mess.

I always carry a pocket full of baggies and have told numerous owners to clear up their dog's mess - most of the time they say "Sorry. I haven't got a bag" I then just reach into my pocket...

However, sometimes owners do clear up the mess and then have nowhere to put it. I don't agree with throwing it in a hedge, but it's not convenient to carry it around either. At least no-one will walk in it if it's in a hedge.

I actually wrote to my council about this after I saw a message in my local paper. The council (rightly) moaned about the mess, but stated that they couldn't afford to make bins available. They did a couple of years later though. Still not enough, but much better than it was - every park now has at least one - although some parks are huge.

One of my dogs never, ever goes outside on grass - the moment he gets home from a long walk he'll go on the patio (which was built for this purpose). My other dog will just dump and run wherever she is, but only near a hedge. And I always clear up after her.

That defines a whole new meaning for "shitting on your own doorstep".
