I feel the same way about the Royal family and the wedding but I just settled with saying IDGAF or DILLIGAF.

I'm not sure I get what the fuss is about. If the country is "on its knees" and "on the brink", shouldn't a spot of romance in the grey monotomy of everyday life help?

... hey, if murdering the royal couple (or the royal family) is what tickles his fancy, there's nothing stopping him making a videogame about it!

@Afr0

The Royal family is probably some of the reason why this country is "on it's knees and on the brink". That's probably where a lot of the country's revenue goes to, supporting the Monarchy.

|edit| Actually, a video game based on slaughtering the Monarchy sounds like fun! |edit|

The monarchy brings a hell of a lot of money in to the country through tourism. A high percentage of the world love England because of the royal family and come here to see royal landmarks. The reason the country is in such a financial mess is mostly because the banks weren't regulated properly and were allowed to risk public money on stupid high risk investments which ultimately failed.

What spinal said; in addition, we really don't spend as much money on the Royal Family as what a lot of Republicans claim. We're not in financial difficulties because of them - if spending money on them was the reason, we'd be in that mess several centuries ago. The problem is the amount of money the government wastes on all kinds of other things.

The British Royal Family is an integral part of what makes Britain what it is - they're not dictators, their powers are only really ceremonial and they have yet to abuse them in recent decades.

The banks were loaned public money AFTER the banking crisis, not before.

Yeah, but that doesn't mean I have to like them! The only one I like is the Ginger-Nut (Harry).

Banks make money by using customers savings to fund crazy investments and giving loans. The idea is that they make enough money to give their customers their money back with interest. Afaik, the UK crisis happened because banks invested a bunch of this money in foreign banks (Iceland ?) which then collapsed, leaving those British banks out of pocket and likely to collapse themselves, which would leave their customers without any money at all.
