Book Study Sessions
The Official Socoder C++ Class

One of these doesn't fit..

Last week I PM'd Afr0 and asked him to use the following topic title format.

"Book Study Sessions, Book N, Week N"
That way, everything stays nice and neatly formatted.

The plan, if this actually takes off, is as follows.

After a few weeks, we can reduce it to BSS : X : Y, and everyone can carry on following.
I can also add a Book Study Session item to the leftbar and have it automagically collate all the study sessions into nice little organised ordered lists.

Additionally.
"The Official" is incorrect.. Because the book isn't written by any of us. "The Official" one would be on the authors site.

Additional Additional..
Since nothing else here is labelled as Official, it sticks out like a sore thumb and looks really damn cheesy.

But that's just what I think.

I think Official looks good, since it's the only C++ class on Socoder.

Also, BSS looks really bad. Too reminiscent of BS (Bullshit)

Not really much challenging the official status here, Remember: We're just a few blokes in a deep pocket of the internet.

Now, i can see "The Official SoCoder C++ Class Week Blah" but ffs, that's a mouthful, rather an eyefull.

Wasn't it you, afr0, who cited K.I.S.S?

I agree on both of these. I'd rather be able to look back through the topics and see 'week 1, week 2, week 3' etc then a list of random topic titles.

In regards to official, I think it's purely up to Jay. But I don't get why Afro doesn't accept that. I mean, who cares if you can't use the word official?

I think the QOTD prefix is pretty pointless and annoying. The QOTD topics already placed in a forum category wholly dedicated to the area, which is clearly displayed when clicking the topic link. Should we start prefixing all new threads with their category name?

I think the QOTD prefix does have some use: in the latest posts bar, it's not immediately obvious which section a forum is under in all themes, so the prefix makes it obvious.

The thing with QOTD, though, is it's usually even more off-topic than most of the things in the Off-Topic section! I didn't want folk to have to click in, and realise it's "Just the bloody QOTD again" so, a flag seems to work in that respect.
It's pretty much the same rule for all the other pre-determined regular posts..
