I used to love the old fashioned Light Cycles game, as a kid, but along the way it's lost it's edge.

QOTD : What can you do to bring Light Cycles' gameplay up to date?

Just give it loads of flashy graphics, because naturally it will then be a better game.

But seriously, good graphics are a good thing (especially good looking graphics) so an update would be good. Ultimately though it needs to be well implemented, fast and responsive. If it's slow then it's dull and just doesn't work.

I played an awesome lightcycle game that you could do online with up to like 16 players... i can't remember what it was called though.. i think it started with an A, like Azera or something... I'll try and find it and report back.

hmm... maybe in 3 dimensions, and instead of sharp turns, you bounce a ball off boundaries (where ever your ball goes, it makes a wall), but can pause the action every few seconds to change your course in 30 degree increments, so you can't just pause and avoid at will.

I would say it HAS to be 3D, mostly because its based on a 3D game from the movie. 2D light cycles doesnt usually work very well i think. but then again, the best version of nibbles i have ever played was the qbasic one (did it come with qbasic?), so there is something to be said for clean 2D gfx.

There was an awesome two player tron game for the Amiga. Just two lines on the screen, hours of fun.

2D FTW!
