Socoder -> On Topic -> Languages (That are actually used!!!)

As Diablos pointed out, the showcase language/system lists are starting to get a wee bit old.

The lists aren't very long and need to be retweaked and regrouped, especially since C# didn't really turn out to be "Like C" at all!

So, if folk would like to suggest languages, that they use, and system, that they do code for, then I'll rejig the two menus in the morning.

Python, Objective-C (or Obj-C for short) under C/C++, and Java.

Languages I'd like to see, but either don't imagine there would be much point to having or don't use myself: Erlang (this one is in the latter category), D, Lua, Squirrel, and Perl (also the latter category).

What if you had popular choices (c, c++, c#, BB, BMax, Cobra, Java, Python, Ruby), 'none specified' and 'other'.

'Other' would allow the user to type in their own.

This allows the list to remain short and support all the one off showcases people make for languages. The same could be done for systems.

OK, I'm starting to work on this..

First thing's first, Other will still just be "Other"
If I make it so that "Other=Textbox" then we end up with all kinda of zany uncontrollable crap happening.. I'd prefer not to have to deal with all of that!

Second, those little "Language/OS" icons are going to get shafted.
If I'm changing things this much, I'm not then going to go through every single theme to fix it all.. So, instead they're going back to the "One theme fits all" style, and will be bumped out of being fit per-theme. Sorry folks! But if in the future we need to add more, it'll be easier to do one than all!

Third, the changes will "tweak?" a few showcases.
The c/c+/c# is becoming C/C++, and C# is going into a firepit.. I mean, it's own section, at the bottom.. So, anyone who has a C# project will have to nip in and shift it to the right area.
For the most part it won't be too annoying, since not many have used C#.. It's nasty! Don't bother..

As said, other will still be "other", so place more specific branding within the showcase/whatever.
And, I'll set about trying to organise things a little better. And maybe add some kind of organisation to the drop down box, too! Maybe!

OK, I've added a few bits and pieces, and segmented the sections with "------" thingums.
Some browsers like the "disabled" thing, so the ----'s won't be clickable.. Other browsers (IE6.. *sigh*) will ignore it.. But, to be sure, ----'s will default to "None Specified", so that's ok.

I've not started to redraw the little icons, though, yet.
I think I might try to decide on the new "Visitor" theme, before starting to draw all of those..

Still not sure how that's going to look, yet!

Just finished updating all my "C/C++" references to "C#". I somehow get the feeling that I'll be the only one that has to do that. I like the new list, much more comprehensive.
