This is too interesting not to post.

I jailbroke my iPhone yesterday and installed a VNC server and a video recording app on it (along with many other apps, but they aren't relevant). With this VNC server on my phone, I can remote desktop on to my phone and remotely control it. (This works over wifi, so no wires needed.) I came to the realisation today the I had just created a spy camera.

I just put the iPhone somewhere in my house (doesn't matter where, as long as it can access my home wifi network), and then open up the video recording app. As a bonus, since this is a video recording app, I can record video at any time by hitting the record button.

Take a look for yourself:

So to keep this topic going, what have you hacked lately to give it new (and cool) functionality?

That's a pretty damn expensive spycam, there!!

I dunno if I've ever hacked anything, to be honest.
Things have their purpose, and occasionally you find a really bizarre purpose, like when I loaded up Jam Sessions on the DS, so I could hook it up to the PC, and use it as a desktop microphone..
Sure, it was a teensy bit overly noisy, but it did it's job for a brief few minutes!

Hacking a PSP and using PSPDISP to turn it into a 900x565 monitor, amongst other spiffy things like the ever useful IRSHELL to act as a music server with remote control through the built in VNC... theres a ton of small hacks i've done about the house, like the insane MIDI network between all of our instruments. It rocks being able to send data between them and even mirror patch settings from another room.

I modded my xbox for XBMC last week.
I only softmodded it and then added a 500 gb drive.

Much more usefull than the regular dashboard, and even more useful for media files than the 360 with all the format's supported.
