On other forums, they have silly little comments under folks names. Either, this is purposely placed by the user themselves, or it's a standard "By post count" type thing.

The post count thing sucks.. Bah, humbug..
The user thing allows folk to just write garbage, and fill up a bit more space with junk. God knows I hated the "Location" rubbish we ended up with on BC+CW.

"At my keyboard!! HAHAAHAHA!!"
*sigh*

Community Sigs!!
Rather than have something that can be messed with, I've decided to add a nice voting feature!

If someone notices a nice little quote you've made, they can click the + button on the bottom right of your post to nominate it.

Every post that you make can be nominated*, and all nominations are kept in a great big list.
Admins can then flick through the list at their leisure, pick and choose the best bits, and stick nice little quotes into your community sig.

If you don't like your current community sig, click the minus button next to it, and it'll disappear. (currently plonking you back to the homepage 'cos things got weird!! I'll probably Ajax this stuff later, to make it a bit neater.)

*Note, comments/blogs/etc aren't working just yet, since their urls are all over the damned place! I'm working on it!

I kinda understand, but not entirely... so we nominate a post we like, then it gets added to a community sig... but is this sig personal, or across the whole community?

I don't get it.

OK, lets say that I think Cower's "I don't get it" post is somewhat amusing.. I click the +, and it gets a vote.
Then, an Admin.. (that'd be me or Phoenix) goes through the recent votes, and also finds it somewhat amusing.
So, me or he copy+pastes this into the new sig box, and voila.. Under your avatar is a somewhat silly comment, written by you, but voted by others.
<-- it goes there...

I get it now. This could be quite fun!

I'd nominate "At my keyboard!! HAHAAHAHA!!"

I like it. That list won't be very fun to browse when there's lots of nominations though. Let's just hope that we all make really dull posts so that there's less browsing to do

Considering how often people post here, I would not expect a large list of nominations, much less a large list of posts.

Yeah, if something turns up that you don't like, click the little minus that appears just after it, and it'll vanish.

I like the idea. I am, however, worried about people, like Mog up there, filling up threads, writing fancy words I don't know to try and get it in their sig.

Odd thing- my first post in this thread shows the little miniature avatar thing and no sig thing, then my second and third posts show a full avatar and the sig. Why? O_o

It has something to do with how long your post is.

The little bity avatar is used when your in "compact post" mode.

It's weird, but it gets the job done.

Quit posting and try Google.

Doesn't really work since all my posts fit on one line right now, but only one of them got compacted.

It's just a basic "Length(string)>x" thing.. Couldn't be bothered to parse it properly.

Admins being Jay?

I'm not sure I get it, you make a quote like "Spinal is right though..." and someone clicks '+' then an admin (jay?) does the whole 'turn it into a thingy' part?

About 4 posts for 2 or 3 days, vs over 30 today.
You want to argue that that's a pointless gimmick, you can go right ahead..

And as for bugs, well, to be honest I'm really comfortable with Socoder right now, so I tend not to really notice any bugs..
2 outstanding ones are...
1. The PM lights up when you've read one, because the left sidebar is rendered before the little tag that says "I've read this" has been set.. I tried sorting that yesterday, but it caused all kinds of other weird shit to happen! I gave up!
2. The Mudchat in general, but hey, that's Mudchat for ya!

If there are any other bugs, I've tended to rely upon the "Folk would tell me that there are bugs.. .. Because that's what they're meant to do" method of bughunting.. But I guess that's not the best way, since apparently nobody ever tells me when they find a bug anymore..

Still broken. Try adding a code box and click Preview twice.

Yeah, but I've not the foggiest idea as to why it's doing that, though.. 'tis the same code...!
I think it might be because it's trying to replace the text area within the content, and there's some kind of clash with the actual text area.. Not sure..
