I would rather have a barrel charger than lose a USB C port to a charger or have to use a hub. My Lenovo is either/or and only came with a USB C charger, but I ordered a Lenovo barrel charger for it and am much happier using that.

Really?!
I've not minded mine being USB-c. Having said that, the MacBook does indeed realistically last a decent amount, from when I wake up to about 5pm'ish. Even with all the daily crap I fling at it, from all the endless coding and multiple testing browsers all running, to even handling Stable Diffusion for about half an hour in the mornings.

To be honest, most of the time it's on my lap, so I tend not to plug anything in. Only when it's on my desk (extremely rarely!!) am I plugging things in, and ... well, then it's on the desk, so I'm ok with having a little hub, there.
*shrugs*

I am mostly on a desk, except for my Chromebook which actually has decent battery life and I sometimes use that on our bed.

USB C chargers, well for me, the USB ports are the weak part, so I use magnetic breakaway adapters as if the USB C port breaks, then it can't be used for anything. If the barrel jack breaks, it is not too difficult to replace and if it is broken, it does not affect anything else.

With laptops having so few USB ports nowadays, that space is at a premium and being at a desk, I am usually plugging some things into the ports, external drives, etc. If I am using a USB C charger, then I have to use a USB hub. Granted I have many of those in different configurations, but I do not want to use them unless I absolutely have to.

Like the lappy he was reviewing. Looked like a good kit. Only worry would be how long it lasts.

And to be clear I was perfectly okay with the Lenovo only coming with a USB C charger as I realize that is what most want. I was simply thankful, you could still use a barrel charger and still order one.

The video makes the point of with USB C you only need one charger for all of your devices. That is only true if you are only charging one device at a time. I am usually charging several at once.

The MacBook has a MagSafe connector, but I tend to only use that when leaving it charge overnight. Any other time it needs charging, I'll whip out a nearby USB-C cable. There's plenty around the house

My powerstrips I use each have 2 USB A and one USB C charger in them, and I use that for charging smaller devices, headphones, phone, kindle, etc. Powering my fan base for my laptops, etc.

With barrel connections being so small and taking up such minimal space, I am not sure why more companies do not do what my Lenovo model did and offer both.

I do not leave my laptops connected when not in use, they get turned off, unplugged and put in a case, so power supplies get plugged in and unplugged a lot. Hence why I went with the magnetic option. I wore one magnetic adapter out after four months, but for the price that is okay, but did order a few of another style to try.

Also very handy since I often lift up the chromebook to show wifey something and if I forget to disconnect it, the magnetic connection saves my butt.
