Chilli Boiger Recipe

Okay, so, this lil recipe makes 4 tasty chilli boigers and goes well with the veg prepared in the following manner. I can't be arsed to make the buns myself though, so you'd be best off grabbing whatever you fancy there.

You will need:

  • One onion (red or brown, either is fine really)
  • 4 Cloves of Garlic
  • An Iceberg Lettuce
  • An Unwaxed Lemon
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • One Beef Tomato
  • 454g of 10% or higher fat beef mince
  • Garlic mayo
  • BBQ Sauce
  • A large pinch or two of Chilli Powder
  • 2-4 Birds Eye Chillies
  • Boiger Buns
  • Cheese (I like mature cheddar but each to their own)
Method:

Finely slice the garlic and Birds Eye Chillies and mix well with the mince beef, adding the chilli powder and a couple squirts of BBQ Sauce to help with the consistency.
Part the mix into 4 round balls, then squeesh into patty shapes
Bung em on a tray, season with salt and pepper, then allow to bake in an oven for 15-20 minutes, turning over and re-seasoning halfway thourgh. My oven is normally set to around 220 degrees C

Right, now the patties are in the oven, get the boiger veg sorted out.
Finely slice the onions into moon cescents, then leave in a jug of water for 10 minutes, dry these out afterwards with a sieve.
Cut some thick slices just over 0.5cm of Beef Tomoato and place to one side on a tray, sprinkle some salt on them and leave them to be until boiger assembly. The salt brings out the tomato flavour in a crazy nice way.
Next, finely slice some lettuce up, then grate a small amount of lemon rind over it and mix in, this somehow, makes the lettuce taste super fresh.

Slice the cheese, and assemble the burger in your preferred way. I'll go:

Top Bun
Garlic Mayo
Lettuce
Cheese
Burger
BBQ Sauce
Onions
Tomato
BBQ Sauce
Bottom Bun

But it's not a set in stone rule.

I've made these a few times in the run up to Christmas and had really tasty results each time. I like my spice a lot so feel free to use fewer Chillies to your taste.

I tested it out on my Dad and my Brother over Chrimbo, both of them really enjoyed it, gonna try making more things over the year and will try to post the results here.
