Finally putting some upgrades to the old PC box

So, after my old processor overheated and went boom a couple of months back I fell back onto a cheapo (read £4 including delivery) processor to check if the rest of my machine was working. it's an ol AMD A4-3300 and it's..well. it's just about up the job at a push (running at a maximum temperature of 25 degrees under full load mind) but I needed to get around to maxing out my old rig to crank out what remaining juices are left in it. To which end I've garnered for the princely sum of £75 in total:

AMD A8 3870K processor (the maximum my board can handle)
CoolerMaster HYPER 212 EVO heatsink and fan
and a lil 2GB Geforce 730 Graphic Card, again nothing stellar but a big improvement over my current Radeon 6450.

Gonna grab a 1TB SSD for next month and migrate my data onto that, hopefully I should be set-up for a bit more action once again.

Glad everything's up and running, again, and that nothing major was (hopefully!) lost along the way.

Nothing lost, hoping the upgrades will restore my desire to code out of hours though

Processor arrived today and what should have been joy turned to disappointment when opning the box and notciing it was full of bent pins around the edges.

I wasn't exactly overjoyed and messaged the seller expressing my malcontent, but figured, lets see if I can bend the pins back into shape with some ol phone fixing equipment I bought earlier in the year.

After a fair while poking and gently prodding, the pins were pretty much in alignment so I figured I'd give the processor a chance, without installing the additional fan I'd purchased and, with only a little bit of force, it went down a okay.

Pluged in the machine and surprsingly, it booted!

As soon as I got into windows,I loaded up HW Monitor to frantically check the temps, and they were fairly low and then I had to head off, feeling pretty pleased with myself for fixing it up although still a little worried about it's reliability.

Whilst I'm out with the kids at the park I get this message from the seller to indicate that they had straight up refunded my purchase, bargain!

Head home and deicde to give the processor more of a workout with some Minecraft for a couple of hours and it's maxxing out at 40 degrees C with my ol stock cooler and some nice new coolermaster thermal paste. Win!

The GeForce GT 730 is also running nicely although I'm not sure which part is having more of an effect, guess I'll play with some video 'n' stuff sometime to see how it goes, either way the upgrade cost is now £50.

If only they'd packaged the processor properly this issue wouldn't have happened and I'd still be happy with that but yeah, win win flap happy

Yup, to confirm, debugging ASM from 3...3 months ago! Is rather tough to sort out, still, getting things working agin in flap happy now
