What's the biggest game you've ever created, in terms of it's filesize, and do you think you used that space wisely, or did you just fill it with MP3s and huge images?

A Pong game, actually. I was just beginning Blitz (back in the day) and I used .WAVs and .BMPs for all the content. It was about 5MiB. So no, the space wasn't used wisely at all. Knowing what I know now, I could fit the same game into about 1MiB. My smallest finished project weighs in at around 13KiB for a GNU/Linux executable, and that would be Fred (a BrainFuck->C language translator).

My Space Snake is only 28k, including all the image information. However that is excluding the compiled version for people who don't have a Ruby VM, which is about 1.3mb. My largest would be one of my RPG Maker games, but I just usually imported loads of the graphics, music and sometimes video (that is video I have made). They were probably upwards of 200mb, but most of it just wasn't used. In blitz it's about 40mb, but that's including .bmp originals of the images. That was a FPS, but it doesn't work one my new pc. I think it's a compatibility problem with Blitz as it no longer allows me to import sprites. I'm too bothered as I don't use Blitz for big projects any more, and rarely do 3d anyway. |

no idea wince i am always short on graphics and audios but my current project will probably take the cake. even though i use no images except the default tile sets and such -=-=- i like green haired girls... |
