Japan's Earthquake / Tsunami

12th March 2011

I don't... I wish this hadn't happened to them (or anyone!), but I still can't help but feel they're pretty damn stupid for building nuclear reactors on an island where earthquakes are known to occur.
It is kind of akin to the age-old scenario of kids pl*snip*

Japan's Earthquake / Tsunami

12th March 2011
EVERY contingency was in place. Each nuclear station automatically shut down at the slightest tremor. All that happened was that such a huge quake caught the automated defences off guard.
See what you're saying here?
If 'EVERY' contingency*snip*

Japan = Perfect example of why building nuclear reactors = A piss fucking poor idea

Telling us all to piss off and go home...

11th March 2011

This week Norway's government basically agreed to not go against a EU directive that will force all ISPs to store all traffic data for at least 3 years (or was it 2? I can't remember).
This is it! I'm going (Linkage)

I find as you keep developing a skill, you keep getting more and more ideas as you progress. This can come in forms of sketches (drawing), stories (writing), solutions (programming) and so on.

How to download Flash videos

24th February 2011

Finally a guide (includes links to proper tools) for downloading Flash videos that actually work.
This isn't really necessary for YouTube etc (there are already several dedicated sites for downloading from YouTube), but if you come across Flash videos tha*snip*

Is this really news?!

How do you know it doesn't simply happen to like 'Jeopardy'?

Is this really news?!

19th February 2011

Yesterday I saw 'I, Robot' with Will Smith.
Anyone else seen it?
It poses a very legible question... once a computer stops being a computer and becomes something... more, is it ok to kill it?

Choosing a programing language

13th February 2011

Choosing a programing language

12th February 2011

Lately though, I've found it doesn't really matter what language your problem is solved in. If the solution isn't completely fucking lame, or the problem isn't bat-fuck-insane, you should be able to port the solution to your target language quite easily.

Choosing a programing language

Yeah, I like that idea.
Btw, I noticed that Borland has discontiniued Delphi. What's up with that?

Choosing a programing language

11th February 2011
Lua is used extensively for scripting in games. Although I'm sure there are lots of non-game applications, it's like saying you can use Flash for non-browser based apps. True but it's a minority of it's usage.
I didn't say you can't use Lua*snip*

Afr0

Choosing a programing language

11th February 2011

I'm not sure I like that guide. It seems to be heavily Java-biased (Groovy, Scala and Clojure all target the Java VM).
Also, it says that you should use Lua if you want to make games, but only want to 'design levels, AI etc'.
Lua is primarily a scripting*snip*

Yeah, that's pretty much the status here as well, on the only public University that offers it (we have maybe one or two private unis that offer it as well, I'm not entirely sure)
