There is something rather familiar about The Bolton News website ... Here's the Brighton and Hove version. www.theargus.co.uk/

While we’re still vaguely on the topic of Meccano, they’re building a bridge in my village with the stuff!! Linkage

Yep, they're all part of the same great big news entity, nowadays.
Our "Bolton" newspaper is printed in Wales, somewhere, and delivered to the shops at around about 6am. It used to be the Bolton EVENING News, but they had to change it once they shifted the printing, and the time it was actually done. Local news just isn't what it used to be!

Same sort ot thing here, our's used to be The Evening Argus they are based locally down here about 5 miles from where I live.

I used to drive a news and magazine delivery van so I sort of know what it must be like having to transport a load of news papers from Wales to Bolton except I didn't have to do as many miles as that.

Are you going to get a photo of the Meccano Bridge if you are well enough when it's done?, I didn't see any photo on their website.

I'll take some shots once I'm well enough, yep indeedy! Should be some photos about on Tuesday, once the bridge is done...apparently!

I'm not sure what I like best, a place called Nob End or a bridge made from giant Meccano.

Bestest story of the week!

This isn't Meccano!!

The £90,000 bridge is designed to look like it is made from a giant Meccano set.

That's going to be a serious beast of a bridge.

That would be good for charity events, they could even have a Meccano troll that pops up and asks for a donation before letting the people cross.

Bad thought, if a copper in Brighton stopped someone in a car and asked where the driver lived and they said "Bob End", that driver would be pulled from the car and given a kicking, you should see the coppers down here kick-off just for hearing anyone say "pig".

LOL... Look at the title Manchester Confidential gave the story.

Typical "Not really news" fluff piece, about the bridge. Work has begun, so it got in the papers again!
Work is due to be complete by about Tuesday, so expect another fluff piece, about then!

Anybody see James May's Toy Stories a year or so back? He built a real moving Meccano bridge over a waterway in Liverpool. Even had Edwina Curry walk across it - I hoped that it would collapse. It didn't.

Fixing the floor into place!
The floor doesn't appear to be standard Meccano pieces!
