Car powered Tills

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1193070/Shoppers-cars-soon-able-power-supermarkets.html
A car park at Sainsbury's, Gloucester, has been fitting with a series of metal panels. As the cars roll over them, the spin the generator which powers the tills.
Cool stuff..

It's the future!!!

Road lighting.... that's a good idea.... have a car generate the electricity to power the next few sets of lamp posts on the road, so you can only see if your moving, sure would make a nice satellite video.

I don't know, if you really think about the energy involved, you will be slowing the car down every time it passes over the panels. Its like pushing your car through mud, verses a perfectly flat surface. This results in more gas needed to keep the car going.

Nice idea but not for cars. Maybe for braking zones??

Or down hill.

The road already has friction that saps energy, so what spinal suggested could still be viable.
