Jayenkai	Seems silly having this back&forth in the shoutbox, so let's finally make it a topic! I have no real issues with it. It's exactly what it said it was going to be. A big-ass iPhone. My main worry is that they've inexplicably bumped up the App prices, which is a bit of a pain in the ass, considering most of the 3D Games are just going to be "Same app, with screen resolution settings tweaked" Sure, if they've gone the whole hog, then fine and dandy, but a lot of them seem to have gone the whole hog, and not had to fork out for doing it. Extra pixel != Extra money grabbing. Many apps are still free, stop nicking pennies.. The prices are exactly the reason people bought your iPod apps, don't get greedy or you'll fuck it up! -=-=- ''Load, Next List!''

Stealth	When the iPhone first came out I paid $20 for most games. The app store competition drives prices down. The iPad should run better games and applications to justify the price. The iPad is cool but it doesn't make sense. I can't justify forking over all that money for this awkward middle device between my PC and phone. I will need to have $500 burning a hole in my pocket first. This device is going to be killer for businesses. The doctor can display information on the iPad to patients, or a web designer can present concepts to a client. It's perfect for that. -=-=- Quit posting and try Google.

blanko1324	Here's how I feel about it. It's not for me, and chances are it's not really the thing for any of us hard-core computer users. However, it does fill the needs for a certain group of people - the ones who aren't great with computers. It's very simple, pretty, very locked down/restricted and therefore pretty safe when it comes to virus protection and stuff like that. Also, keeping it updated is pretty much automatic. It's a portable computer for people who don't like/are afraid of computers, and that's where it will succeed if it succeeds at all. Personally, I see it as a shiny, over-sized, useless iPhone. -=-=- My Twitter

Jayenkai	Indeed, Any episode of Star Trek shows you the exact purpose of a Padd. Typing your Away Mission reports, and handing them to the Captain so he can handily read them. I can't imagine myself needing a giant reading device, because the pocket-padd (ipod) is doing everything I need it to. JL235	As my second or third priority device, I think this is perfect. Something to use on the train, to be able to quickly look something up whilst chatting to mates or to get whilst watching TV. It's going to be a very good primary device. But it'll be excellent for secondary stuff. Stealth Apples solution is a lot more elegant. Second the issue with those has been size, weight and cost (even more then the iPad); not the OS. Stealth This device is going to be killer for businesses. Third, one of the best ways for businesses to use the device inhouse would be to build proprietry software to run on top. Apps designed to display patient info, or an app that integrates with their content DBs. Businesses can't do this with the iPad because you can only run apps released via the iStore. With another OS they could create custom, inhouse, bespoke apps. The whole iStore lockin means this can only be a personal or consumer device.

Microsoft hasn't created a tablet OS from the ground up with multi-touch in mind like Apple has. Apple has clearly invested more time and energy into the R&D and building of a new touch user interface. The whole iStore lockin means this can only be a personal or consumer device. Apple allows companies to create in house apps and distribute them locally. Many large companies, including Disney and Kraft, have deployed iPhones to all their employees using custom software. -=-=- Quit posting and try Google.

Spare	I do like the idea. But seeing the price and problems it brings. Been seeing a lot of overheating and wifi connection problem messages. (It seems to turn off at 35C to cool down). But it does blend!

Jayenkai	When is anything EVER worth the price?! We've been ripped off for years. I expected Google to be half-decent, but their Nexus price is about as bloody rip-off as everything else. There's an "Archos Tablet" in Argos, for £299 (32Gb, or £329 160Gb!) which has an "Android User Interface".. Not sure if that counts as 100% Android or not.. shrugs It's only got a 4.8" screen, though. That's no tablet!! -=-=- ''Load, Next List!''
