I got this hilarious PM on GameDev.net today:
Hello!
How are you doing? My name is Alina.I have seen your profile and you have seemed to me the interesting person.I would like to get acquainted and learn with you about you more. If you wish to know concerning me I search for the person for lovely relationship. I wish to create a relationship based on love, trust in which there will be no deceit.I will be very glad,if you write a little about yourself and i will send photos on mine E-mail: alinnyahmed@yahoo.com

This is, obviously, spam. I usually don't get junk mail, since it's almost always automatically tagged as such and then removed. The interesting thing about this, is that it has completely circumvented my spam filter by using the PM system on a fairly big site. I can imagine this being much more effective than the conventional methods, since there is a 100% chance of reaching the target. Is this the future? Will poor site owners have to implement their own spam filters?

Unfortunately, they've been doing this for ages.
When ChristianCoders got hacked, a few years back, I registered onto the new relaunched version, only to get one of these within just a couple of weeks.
That sucked!!

Spambots are a plague on the internet. Down with spambots!!

Back in May, i was actually in the office of one of the biggest known spammers on the globe. He was this twitchy, fat mexican who didn't wear shoes, had greasy long hair, and spoke like he was a paranoid schizophrenic. I first thought he was homeless, until I learned that the 2 Lamborghini Mercillago's outside were his and his brothers - obviously the product of swindling countless people into buying crap.

Although.. I would have loved to have had his setup, he has 3 rows of 5 monitors, each one serving some evil purpose be it a console screen for one of his bots, or him crawling for more targets. I rest a little easier at night thinking that he's just completely bumfuck insane now, thanks to spam.
