; Smile!!

SmileBASIC has been out a week, and already people online are starting to realise just how powerful it actually is.
Sure, it can't (natively) do big amazing 3D stuff, but dang, if it can't half do 2D!!
My own tests are showing that even my god-awful coding methods are getting a silky smooth framerate with about 2500 sprites, scaled, rotated, alpha'd, all onscreen and jiggling and shuffling around using Sin's and Cos's to keep everything moving...
It can easily go up to 4096, but I need to manage my sprites a little better for that!

AndyH has been having a play around with the language, and seems to be getting along with it fairly well, too.
The thread's full of little tips and links and things. I think I should probably sit down and organise a single blog, gathering up the best links and things, into a neater package.
For now, though, have fun creating, and let us see what you can come up with.

; Print Your Own Computer

Rockford finds a website full of papercraft computers.
Most of the 8-bit home computers that we grew up with are here.
Grab some glue, a pair of scissors, and hope that the kids haven't used all your ink up!

; OUYA Future

TKS posts the first issue of a brand new OUYA Magazine.
Grab it as a free PDF, or if you're feeling generous you can buy a PDF Kindle edition from Amazon.
Proceeds go towards him bothering to do it again in future!

Spinal finds that, sometimes, it's better to just leave his arm in a rested position.

; Vibes

Over on Twitter, Chainspellstun tries out coding for the first time, and hits that moment when it all suddenly falls into place.
The absolute joy in the voiceover reminds me of when it happened to me, too.
Do you remember the first time?

SoStayIndoors

The world continues to traverse unknown ground, amidst the chaos of Covid-19.
Here in the UK, we're nearing the end of Week 6 of the vague lockdown, and things are getting a little more organised.
Online Grocery Shopping seems to be settling into a groove. I've managed to get another decent sized delivery this week without issues, which is great. (I'm using PrimeNow.Amazon.co.uk for my shopping, if that helps anyone.)

Meanwhile, Governments around the world are starting to make plans as to how to open things back up.
Obviously it's going to have to be done slowly, and steadily, but everyone's getting restless and I don't think it's going to be that easy.

; Check-In

Closer to home, Krakatomato's been in and out of hospital, and is hopefully on the mend.
Best of wishes to him and his family.
And also to yourself, and your loved ones, too.
This has all been pretty scary stuff, and I hope everyone's managed to cope well through it all.

CovidVideo

The chaos of Covid has created all manner of odd video treats for us all to watch.
Since there's a distinct lack of energy to muster, we might as well sit and consume all the media!
