Socoder -> C/C++/C#/Other -> JDK on Vista?

So, today, I felt like I needed to mix things up a little bit. I was a bit tired of doing work on this one program I was doing in C# so i decided to try playing with java again. I posted it in the C section because I wasn't sure where else to put it, and I figured since java is a decedent... well, anyway...

So I downloaded the Java 6 JDK (x64) and netbeans to play around with. (I just reformatted and didn't have either on here). I tried making a small program and it said that it didn't know where java.net was... which was odd. But then, I tried using other packages, and it couldn't find any of them: java.io, java.awt, javax.swing...

I tried installing the x86 JDK and I tried using other IDE's, anybody have an idea of what's going on?

No idea. But I can tell you Java and NetBeans 5 work perfectly fine for me and Java 6 is fully Vista compatible. I however installed the SDK and then NetBeans separately.

Is NetBeans all set up properly? It does have a Java VM selected in your projects properties? Are you sure your code is right? Try loading in some old or sample projects and compiling them.

I tried uninstalling everything and starting from scratch, but to no avail... I'm really not sure what's going on here.

It won't even compile this:

no implementation, just an import statement... I tried doing command line compile aswell and that didn't work, got the same error messages.
