Political compass

What's yours?

https://www.politicalcompass.org/
What's your political compass?
Are you a neo-conservative, neo-liberal, traditional authoritarian or an anarchist?

My compass puts me in (according to the site) roughly the same position as Nelson Mandela, only a little more to the left. As for anarchy, I'm pretty much dead center on the Libertarian scale, meaning that I probably would be in favour of less state control, but not complete anarchy.

I seem to be some sort of free-market liberal conservative.

I could have told you that before taking the test.

I allowed one political topic due to it's extreme relevance to many of the UK students who are currently part of the forum.

Socoder is not the political forum for the omniverse.

T'would be interesting if someone actually ended up in the middle!

Ideally, you want to be as close to the center as possible. It shows you have moral beliefs, but are still flexible. Being close to any edge of the grid shows that you are an extremist when it comes to your political views.

There are no 'ideals' in politics.
What is 'ideal' changes based on perception.

People in the middle of the chart tend to be flexible, while people on the edges tend to be pushy. The closer you are to the middle, the more you are siding with both views. If you're on an edge, you're essentially blocking out all of the other sides views.

I personally like taking things on a case by case basis, rather than having general views on topics.

I disagree. I would argue that being able to understand others views is seperate to where you lie on the political spectrum.

Although with that said the people on the extremes tend to fail to understand others view points.

This might be true.
But I am relatively 'extreme', and I consider myself to be quite open minded.
With that said, we all (regardless of where we stand) like to cling to our own beliefs, at least to a degree. How open we are to other beliefs changes alot based on personality, the credibility of the belief we are being presented with and... I guess... our experiences in life.
