Munky Blocks



Whilst coding the super new JNKPlat for DS, I figured I should probably also start a decent Blitz game, too.
'cos.. You know.. I don't have much else to do



Munky blocks will be something with blocks. Not sure quite what the mechanics of the game will be yet, but at least I animated Munky, so that's something!

The gameplay mechanic illustrated above is now actually working in the engine! Woot!

Munky can pick up blocks, wander around with them, and plop them back down.

Next up, Jumping!
Not too sure how to weight the jumping.. So far he's moving 4 pixels per frame when empty, and 2 pixels per frame when full! I'll probably get him to jump different heights, too.

The game engine's pretty much up and running, by this point.
Munky Blocks

Rules
Match 3 or more of the same coloured blocks to make 'em go. Get rid of all of 'em to beat the level.

Controls
Cursors to walk
Up to Jump/Climb
Hold Z/X to pickup and drop blocks, along with cursor left/right/down.

Jump/climb rules
When full, you can only climb up 1 block.
When empty, you can climb up 1, or 2 blocks. You can also jump over a block gap.



Um, I think that's everything.

One test level included.

There's no special magical ending thing, so don't build your hopes up!

The level's in plain ascii format, feel free to play about.

0=nowt
1=wall
ABCDEFGHIJ=Blocks
abcdefghij=Immovable Blocks

Post any levels you make.
Sorted!


Now if I can be bothered, I've gotta make another f'ing level editor!


Oh yeah, and "-f" to run fullscreen.

Editor's up and running, the titlescreen's nice and colorful, and the levels are packed into neat files.

The music from Space Monkeys 1-5'ish has mostly been copied across, for that full-on Space Monkey style, and a few of the sound effects have been put into place.

Tommorrow, more sound effect work, a bit of Level Select stuff, and Munky Blocks should be ready to go!
