Beowulf

wow!!
what a great movie!

I saw this movie and with my brother Mark
a few days ago. This movie was so good and awesome it bumped out my 2 most favorite shows of the year.
And they were "The 300" and "The Messengers"

A lot I could say and write about this movie.
But, I don't want to give anything away to those who
haven't seen it. As well as making this short as well.

One personal experience with Beowulf:

we all have our Grendels. Those skeletons in our closet
and also those choices we made that we have to live with and deal with in our life. Even the bad and stupid ones.
Yet, to get up, forgive others as well as ourselves,
learn and grow in both wisdom and knowledge.
But hopefully to not give up but hope and dream as well.

I have to disagree. It was, and I completely mean this, one of the worst movies I've ever seen. First off, it was in no way faithful to the original story. Second, the movie used nudity and blood in place of actual good content. I don't fall for that. Third, the characters suck. I hate Beowulf! He's a lier, and has too much pride. How can you like the movie when you can't connect with the main character?

ff viii was a good game and the main character kept everyone out so you don't realy need to cennect to them.

anyways, i saw it in 3d and thaught it was good but not great.
the 3d effects were cool though.

sorry to hear/read you disliked the movie, blanko.

Yet, I read the story a lot of times.
And have seen a few other versions of the movie.
This one in the late 1960's where it was really dark and gothic like and looked to be more realistic cause it was filmed in black and white.
The other version came out in the 1970s' and was more of a sci fi fantasy. Where the water witch demoness was
a ruler from another dimension and her son was a genetic hybrid of the current ruling king on Earth and her dna strands too. Most like a mighty one...a Nephilim.

Yes, he was liar and exaggerator.
More so of a boaster and prideful man
that loved the attention, acknowledgement, and praise.
Very arrogant, conceited, full of himself.
Fully human but also a mighty warrior and do gooder too.

Yet, he made a lot of bad or not so good choices and had to live with those choices and decisions. Some came back to haunt him.
Remember that scene of that invading warrior who wanted to kill him? But Beowulf could've killed him but his advisors told him that the King should not engage in combat.
Yet, Beowulf was going to kill him but had not honor nor the motivation to kill his enemy but showed mercy and let him go. It was from the realization that he was already dead from his decisions and deeds of selling his soul
to that water witch for power, glory and a kingdom.

Yet, I like the story and movie overall.
And the presentation of getting the message across
among the characters and events that you have to live and hopefully learn and get on your life with the choices and decisions you make in like. Whether good or bad..or perhaps somewhere in-between.

And yes the 3d effects were awesome!
I especially like the animated dragon, digitally enhanced Angela Joline , and the top down rotoscoping or rotational effects of the kingdom and the surrounding landscape too.

|edit| does a movie always have to have a happy ending?? Does the main character always be a perfect moral upright individual?? Look at the film Point Blank. Lee Marvin
is a hitman who tries to cut ties with the mob he works for and tries to atone for all the evil he has done. But the mob doesn't like this and sends out other hitmen, mercenaries and assasins to take him down. He is the hero..more like the anti hero. Human and likable but with problems, ups and downs, both good and bad things done and chosen too. |edit|
