Coolio. Maybe you can quit your job and start a business making websites once you've worked your way up!

I'm interested because it seems alot of us (some, at least) are in a cross-over stage where they're entering or finishing universities.

Choosing a programing language

FreeBASIC isn't outdated. It was still being developed as of 8th of November 2010.
It is also compatible with Win32.
And most importantly, free.
It is probably what I'd choose if I were starting over.
In fact I'd say that FreeBASIC is at least as, if*snip*

Here is the link to FreeBASIC. It doesn't support Macs yet, but it does support Linux.
If you want something more 'game' oriented, there's the Unity engine that can be heavily modified to do almost anything using C#.
Microsoft has also released free Expr*snip*

Made this for my birthday which is today;

Bit byte thingamabob

25th January 2011

Let's say I have an int (technically a long).
Let's say I need to store it as 3 bytes (which doesn't conform to a standard type).
How?
I'm using C#....
(It has the same bitwise operators as Blitz)

c pointers?

Pointers are 'relatively' easy (as Einstein would have said it).
A pointer is an address in memory. Or rather an address to something in the memory. You create a pointer by going int *MyPointer.
To get the address of a pointer, use the AddressOf operator*snip*
