Design: Coolest vehicle weapons

26th May 2010

Yeah, defensive weaponry like that can be nice. I had an idea of using tiny missiles to destroy incoming missiles, but gatlin gun fire could be used as well.
JL, yeah I do plan on making this an RPG approach, where you find progressively better weaponry *snip*

Okay, so I'm working on a spaceship game called Garbage Invaders (the name is temporary), the idea is that you can salvage parts off enemy ships and use them for your own ship. The game has really developed into an RPG style game, similar to Diablo II (an*snip*

Design : RPG

24th May 2010

I had a dream the other day that I was playing a new RTS style game... the units and environment were all future tech (as were the enemies). What struck me as a handy new feature of the game was that all units would engage any hostiles within their firing*snip*

Weird Dreams?

I have a hard time with that too, usually when I'm falling asleep. My wife has heard me say some pretty strange things!

mindstorm8191

Weird Dreams?

8th May 2010

I usually have dreams about games, or at least some aspect related to games. Sometimes I tell my wife what I dreamed and she's like "all you ever dream about is games", so I end up keeping them to myself.
I usually only remember a small part of my whole *snip*

QOTD : Asking for help

2nd May 2010

I usually ask questions when I'm stumped on something. I think I try to answer my own questions as often as I can, usually with Google. But sometimes you don't get any good results, even trying different searches, and sometimes you don't know what you're*snip*

WW?

30th April 2010

Jay, as far as the actual development side, what if we had some form of module writing, instead of short games? These modules could then be used for larger projects. People could request a tool / script for a game project of theirs be written, whether it*snip*

Design : RTS

29th April 2010

Another thing unrealistic about the RTS's I've played, is units don't ever worry about resources. Like, units should have a food and ammo bar, draining food over time and draining ammo while fighting. Once either runs out, they would have to come home. *snip*

Design : RTS

27th April 2010

I like the RTS genre, and there's a lot you can add to it. One of the things I find unrealistic about most RTS games is exploration of the map. Like in Command & Conquer, once you have explored an area, its like you always know what's going on there, eve*snip*

Rotating an image with javascript

20th April 2010

Jay, sorry but your rotation example didn't work. I'm running IE 8, which might have something to do with it.
I have another question: would it be reasonable to have an open-source project in Blitz3D?

Rotating an image with javascript

Yeah, it would be quite difficult building a scripting language for the game. Not something I would want to need to deal with...

Why does everyone love PHP?

18th April 2010

I'll agree that functions have odd names in PHP. But what if you made a list of your own function names? Each function name of your own would only call the php-named function. It'd be like a mini wrapper. Write it as an include file and you're done.

Hill Algorithm?!

6th February 2010

Well, you should remmber, an image is really only a set of arrays, a 2D array for red, for green and for blue. A classic blur routine works on 2D array data, like what you're after. But instead of blurring for each color component, you only have to deal *snip*

Why don't you try a basic blur algorithm? For each pixel, simply look at each of the surrounding pixels, average their value and apply it to the pixel you're working on. You may want to do this to a new array, instead of the one you're reading.
