Here's something that I thought to share. www.humanized.com When I first installed it, without reading the instructions, I thought that it was something that ran completely on my side of the internet, and without the internet. Unfortunately, the software gets its answers from the internet, which is something that I do not like. But you guys and girls may enjoy it. -=-=- DNA |

If you're looking for an not-internet-using dictionary, try WordWeb. I have to say that Enso is kind of neat, though, if only because it makes my caps-lock key slightly more useful. |

Enso is dead. Went open-source a while ago and hasn't been touched for months. As of now, I don't think it has enough features to be install-worthy. Otherwise I wouldn't have cared about it being dead.

It's been a while since I last used it, so this is at the top of my head. And I'll admit that "features" might have been the wrong word when I just wanted something to express my dissatisfaction. In Enso Words, I really missed translation; something which I use a lot all the time since I'm not natively English. Spellchecking is handy, but in most programs where it's relevant to have correct spelling (browser, mail client, word processor) it's already there. And, considering that the design goals were to be slim and quick, they failed in the define command. Looking up a word felt tacked on. Not fast at all. I really didn't get the point of all of the useless commands: maximizing/minimizing a window, changing window focus, character counting, etc. Why not spend time on stuff you actually use more than once a year? Like arranging windows in a grid-like fashion so that you can drag and drop stuff between them (to be fair, that's the only thing I remember missing). Perhaps it just wasn't the program for me. On the flip side, the calculate command was pretty useful. |
